R404A

R404A is an azeotropic blend of HFC refrigerants R125, R143a and R134a.  It was widely used for commercial refrigeration applications, including display cabinets, cold rooms and ice machines, as well as transport refrigeration and industrial refrigeration.

It has a GWP greater than 2500 and virgin product cannot be used for servicing in the UK and EU in stationary refrigeration applications > 40 CO2 T eq. The use of reclaimed R404A is allowed until 31/12/2029 assuming that the product is still available.

R448A, R449A and R452A are potential replacements in direct expansion systems.  Please contact Climalife for specific recommendations for your applications.
