R23
R-23 is a hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) suited for very low temperature systems (-60 to -100°C) fitted with piston or rotary compressors.
This refrigerant is suited for use in the second stage of a cascade refrigeration system. The first level of such a system requiring R-404A or R-507 (air conditioned enclosures, freeze-drying systems, thermal shock, blood product storage, envronmental test chambers).
It has a GWP greater than 2500 and virgin product cannot be used for servicing in the UK and EU in stationary refrigeration applications > 40 CO2 T eq. There is an exemption for systems operating below -50 degrees C.
APPLICATIONS: | Very low temperature refrigeration |
ASHRAE CLASS: | A1 |
OIL REQUIRED: | POE |
GWP: | 14800 |
