Take action on R-404A now!

"Take action on R-404A now!" was the underlying message at Climalife's two recent customer events held in March.

Cooling professionals from across the UK came together at the impressive Celtic Manor Resort in Newport and Oulton Hall in Leeds for an informative set of presentations from speakers;including Climalife Managing Director Allan Harper, Technical Director Peter Dinnage, Head of Sales Dave Richards and Chemours Business Development Manager, Mark Hughes.

With F-Gas Regulation driving the phase down of high GWP refrigerants and the introduction of CO2 equivalent tonne quota limits on all producers and importers of F-Gases, the market is set to encounter a 32% reduction in quota that can be placed on the market in 2018.

R-404A – the pressure's on!

R-404A has a GWP of 3922 and hence consumes a lot more quota than those refrigerants with a lower GWP.  Naturally producers will favour the Lower GWP refrigerants, as they can sell more, than those with a high GWP such as R-404A.

Already there are reports of large price increases on R-404A and less product being available.  This is all driven by the market’s speed to move away from R-404A and pricing of R-410A and R-407C could be affected too.  These reports shouldn’t need to be a concern, if action is taken now.
