The use of virgin HCFC refrigerants such as R22 was banned as of 1st January 2010, but it is still possible to top up systems with reclaimed product and in some cases recycled product until the end of 2014. From 1st January 2015, it will be illegal to top up any system in the European Union with an HCFC refrigerant.
EU regulation 2037/2000 was replaced with 1005/2009 in September 2009.
